Evigby - Luft Under Vandet ft. Troldkælling Stop Motion Video!

The Band Evigby released a new video to kick off their musical tour in Denmark. I played a small part by creating the puppet heads and helping to give a little direction on how they could make the bodies.
The characters names are John Tonic and Pigen_i_Emperiet. I am not sure who the digital artist was, but they sent me two pictures of the character designs which you can see below:
Each puppet is made using 1:6 scale jointed figures and the heads were sculpted in ZBrush, 3-D printed and then I painted them up. They were kept simple to keep within their budget, plus it was more convenient for them to buy ready-made clothing. They added the symbols to them, painted the hands and everything came together really well. It was nice working with them and their music is good too.

In order to figure out the dimensions of the head for printing, we used some aluminum foil to see how things might look. Then they let me know what they wanted and it was just a matter of telling the program how to slice the digital files.
All that was left was to make two textured hair pieces out of foam which I airbrushed with acrylic paint. I also matched the colors of the original design in acrylics to pain the faces, then sprayed them with a matte coat from Liquitex for durability. For the line work, a fine black felt tip pen did the trick.
